My name is Geordie and I’m proud to call Pōneke home.

I grew up in a small village called Ashhurst before moving to Te Whanganui-a-Tara to study Software Engineering. I’ve been working full time since then while being a staunch advocate for renters as the president of Renters United.

Like many people who move here to study I immediately fell in love with the City. Wellington is vibrant, friendly and full of beautiful green spaces. Everyone should be able to enjoy all Wellington has to offer, but unaffordable housing remains a massive barrier for many who want to call Pōneke home.

This election is the best opportunity we have to plan for fifty years of housing growth so the next generation of Wellingtonians don’t have to ever be without safe, affordable, and healthy homes.

I use public transport to get to work most days with thousands of other Wellingtonians, and when I feel like it I take my bike to work. It’s so easy to walk around the central city and I want it to be just as easy to cycle or use public transport.

During my workday I’ll run along the waterfront or through Waimapihi. Our streams and waterways can play an important role in moving water during climate related extreme weather events. I will be a staunch advocate for restoring the health of our waterways and our beautiful harbour.
